Negativity is a powerful thing. It has the power to destroy a person, and I guess that is why it has always been something that frightens me yet strangely fascinates me. Negativity is predominant in this world. And we see so many examples of it every day. Whether that is visual negativity and hate, such as terrorism. Or whether that is invisible negativity, such as depression. Negativity has to be dealt with in a certain way, because it is powerful, and it takes a lot of positivity to clear it up. I think as people we do not realise that our own negativity is often felt by others. We seem to think that we feel so negative, and that we are the only ones feeling this way. We seem to have it in our minds that negativity is abnormal, and nobody feels the same way we do. So this is a little idea, not only to strengthen your faith in positivity and a kind humanity. But to restore your faith in the fact that pain is not only an uncommon thing, but something that can be cured, by the beauty and kindness of others.
You see, negativity is absolutely everywhere. Sometimes you just have to take a moment to stop and look at the world. Take a moment to stop and look at our society, and you will see. You will see the negativity and once you see it, it can become the only thing you see. I have always been a huge supporter of acts of kindness. I feel like if we all tried our hardest to make a difference, if we all tried our hardest to add a bit of positivity to this world, it would start to shine more brightly.
I was watching the news this morning. And I saw something, and it warmed my heart. The news story was about the dreadful terrorist attacks in Brussels. I watched as I saw the images of lost ones, smoke rising from bombed buildings and children screaming for their lives. And I felt disgusted, just like any decent human being would. But then I saw something so beautiful. The picture changed, flowers were all over the ground, people lit candles and prayed for the lost ones. And a young Muslim man prayed with them. And those people, they stayed united. Those people, preached this idea that the only way to defeat this evil was to unite together. And it was truly such a beautiful little glimpse at society. It was one, sadly, that I do not see often.
And it inspired me to write this. The idea for ‘a corner of kindness’ has been brewing in my head for months. But after seeing the results of the dreadful attacks in Brussels, and having a very hard two weeks, with negativity being the dominant feeling for me. I figured that this idea was so important. And I had to do this now, because I could help somebody, and so could YOU.
I know that in life people have so many struggles, depression, anxiety, chronic illness, the list goes on. And I know, that one of the hardest things about dealing with these things is feeling like you have nobody to talk to. And one of my favorite things about blogging is the supportive community. So I thought why not combine the two together, to show you that I care, and people are here to help you.
So with that in mind, I would like you all to take this opportunity of ‘ the corner of kindness’. If you are going through something hard right now, it does not matter how serious. Please leave a comment down below, and I and this friendly blogging community with reply to your comments with suggestions, advice but most importantly support.
I am really hoping you will all help each other out in the comments, and also open up about your situation. I think it will really help raise the awareness that negativity is normal. But most importantly show you that you ARE NOT ALONE. So please have a chat in the comment section, I really think this can help us all and spread a little positivity and kindness, in a world where sadly, we do not see it often.
Thank you for reading.
Please like, comment about anything you need help and support with, and even follow my blog if you like, it is greatly appreciated.

This is such a beautiful idea, I’m so glad I stumbled across it. It warms my heart that there are people such as yourself in the world who are kind and trying to ease other people’s sufferings in any way that they can. I find this very inspiring. I just had to say that. Have a wonderful day!

Thank you so much. One of the biggest things I think people should do in life is just be kind, I think we are all very quick to judge but not quick enough to really think about what a person may be going through. So glad you enjoyed, thank you so much for reading!

True. We jump to conclusions in milliseconds, maybe we should try stepping into other people’s shoes for a change. Just be kind, I guess. Sympathise if you don’t want to empathise, at least. That’s the least we can do. I did enjoy reading this, so *thank you*!

Beautifully written. I like the way that although it is a negative theme you manage to shed a positive light on it. 🙂

How am I only seeing this now? This is a great idea! Most people fall into negativity thinking it’s realism and they don’t realise how harmful it is for them. I hear it all the time, “I don’t want to get my hopes up in case I fail” and I mean, how far are you going to get with that mentality? Not only are you going to prevent yourself from achieving your true potential but you are also going to demotivate the people around you. I think it stems from lack of support. If you have people who support you and believe in you, then you start believing in yourself too. If both positivity and negativity are contagious, then why spread negativity?
Stay positive beautiful people. 🙂

I absolutely love this post and this idea. Two years ago I turned my life around and came out of a decade of depression by choosing to be more positive…it was hard but my life has truly changed. We will always have moments of ups and downs but when we CHOOSE to look at situations in a new light everything changes. I quit watching the news and violent movies, I don’t partake in gossip or shaming other people because what good does it do? What we focus our attention on grows….so if we feed into the negative it grows…but what if we choose not too and feed the positive instead? What an inspirational post!

I am so happy you managed to get out of such a dark time. And I am so so happy you now feel positively. The fact that you pulled yourself out of such a dark place is truly amazing. You are right once we change our mindset our opinions on a situation completely change. Thank you so much for your comment. Keep being your wonderfully positive self and inspiring others around you 🙂

I agree about negativity. It is really contagious so if we love the people around us, we shouldn’t drag them towards such an unhappy place… I have a lot of worries these days but since i changed my theme for like a year now, i wanted to make my blog negative free zone! Thanks to people like you who continuously inspire people to be better!

I’m really happy to say that all the kindness from this community as lifted me away. The change came so suddenly but i’m not in the slumps. I am washing my face every day to be refreshed and developed a starter routine thingy to be way more productive. I can actually keep a another tiny book with weekly goals and it’s helping so much. Overall i’m cleaner and happier, and I feel so much better as a person to be sharing kindness and helping at home a bit and showing that I care- i’m developing good habits and it’s not bragging cause i hate it but before, I used to be down in the slumps and thought that goals were pointless, ripped all of the pages where I attempted a goal/health journal and I was really a mess. But I feel more confident now which is a drastic change, all thanks to blogging and motivation!!! Thankyou so much for everything, I really feel better. Yes, I may still have problems at school but I guess I don’t despise it that much and hate waking up every morning. Not every negative piece might have gone, and thats okay because i’m so much better. I CAN’T thankyou, and this community enough! Love you xxxx

I was on Mad Decent Boat Party 2015 when we heard about the terror attack in Paris. We’d just lost a fellow cruiser because she committed suicide by jumping off the boat meaning that we couldnt go to our destination because so much time was spent looking for her body. It was a really heavy time, especially for a vacation, but people really bonded together and Martin Solveig dedicated his whole set to French artists. It was so beautiful and uplifting during such a sad time. Not a struggle, but I thought I’d share!
